Focus on Islamic Schools in PLE 2022
UMEA, a non-government educational organization, strives to provide quality education to Muslim communities in Uganda. The organization operates a variety of primary and secondary schools that offer a curriculum that combines both the national curriculum and Islamic teachings. In addition to providing education, UMEA also offers teacher training and other resources to support the growth and development of Muslim communities in the country.
The UIEB, an educational organization responsible for conducting Islamic exams in Uganda, is tasked with assessing students' knowledge and understanding of Islamic subjects and teachings through exams. These exams, known as the Islamic Primary Leaving Examinations (IPLE), cover a wide range of subjects such as Quranic studies, Islamic history, and Islamic law. The 2022 IPLE results were released on January 12, 2023.
In the 2022 PLE exams, nearly 253 schools from 42 districts participated, with Luwero and Butambala District having the highest number of participating schools in that order. The results showed that 65% of students scored between Division 2 and 3, while 9% failed to meet the passing standards. Lufuka Quality Islamic School stood out with the best-performing male student in the IPLE, ranking 68th among all Islamic schools in the PLE 2022.
