Welcome to the Management Training and Advisory Centre (MTAC), a dynamic body corporate operating under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives (MTIC). Established on July 14, 1964, as a Government of Uganda (GOU) project funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and executed by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), MTAC has evolved into a pivotal institution dedicated to enhancing management practices and fostering entrepreneurship.

Key Milestones: The success of the initial project led to the formal establishment of MTAC through the Management Training and Advisory Centre Act of 1969.

Main Objectives:

  • Provide advisory and training services to government departments, public, and private institutions.
  • Enhance management practices in industries and economic sectors.
  • Support enterprises in studying and designing new products, models, and devices.
  • Prepare Ugandan citizens for managerial, functional, and supervisory roles.
  • Foster entrepreneurship and job creation.
  • Elevate the skill standards of workers in various industries.
  • Organize and conduct training courses for both semi-skilled and skilled workers.

MTAC's Mandate: Our core mandate revolves around promoting enterprise development, imparting sound management practices, and cultivating a spirit of entrepreneurship through training and advisory services.

Contributions and Impact: Over the years, MTAC has played a pivotal role in enhancing management practices, empowering Ugandans to become entrepreneurs, and fostering job creation.

Governance: MTAC adheres to the principles of good corporate governance, boasting a well-constituted Council representing the public sector, private sector, and employee organizations.

Council Committees: The Council operates through three committees - the Professional & Academic Committee, Finance & Development Committee, and the Finance and Human Resource Committee - ensuring effective discharge of its duties.
